Fourth of July at Public Records during the day. Fourth of July in the city is kind of weird. It’s really empty. Jackson and Tess were in town for the long weekend, so Tiernan, me and those two went to Brooklyn and checked out this day party that Public Records had. It was honestly super fun. I think that Public Records has become progressively less fun for me over the years. I remember first going there back in 2018 (or was in 2019?). It felt so cool and “adult.” Now, it feels a bit fratty. I can’t tell if that’s just me getting older or if it’s actually changed. Probably a little bit of both.

Newport 2024! Thank you to Jackson and Tess for having me over for a weekend during the summer. Newport, RI is so beautiful during that time of year. The city is so much fun. It has this old school New England vibe that makes you feel like you’re in Manchester by the Sea (sad movie. Remember that one scene where Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams break down crying?). Anyways, this is Jackson and Tess entering into this really good, local Italian sandwich shop. I liked the blue moped next to the blue car.

I think this might be my favorite film photo I’ve ever taken. It’s an accidental double exposure. The first photo is Jackson playing this interactive game at an ATP 250 pro tennis tournament (Newport Hall of Fame Open, which is played on grass). I accidently opened up the camera mid roll, and it messed up some of the film. The other image is the famous Hallgrímskirkja church in Reykjavik, Iceland. The photo of the church overlaid on top of the image of Jackson creates this really neat effect. The jutting pillars of the church create this feeling of motion and speed.

Tess holding a giant ass racquet!

The Newport Hall of Fame Open is actually played on grass, which was really fun to watch. Also, we were watching Reilly Opelka play. Fuck that guy. I find his Instagram presence annoying. Anyways, the tournament is actually held at the Tennis Hall of Fame, which is super cool. We saw Andre Agassi while we were there! I was sort of dying while we were at the tournament, as I was fairly hungover.

For some reason, most of the photos that I took on the roof of our apartment in Tribeca turned out a bit blurry. This one was nice though. Tiernan and Eric looking out at the north view, which shows Soho, West Village, Chelsea and a bit of Midtown. I really enjoyed our summer nights grilling on the roof with Nate, Ian and Tiernan. We kind of had a little Sunday tradition where we would grill on the roof. We got really good at grilling corn. Nate showed me this method where you slice some butter and completely wrap the corn. It lets the juices stay in. We also did a really good Surf ‘N Turf one night.

First Iceland picture. This was our second day in the country when we visited Kirkjufell, which is a very aesthetic big hill lol. Iceland is a super cool country, but my one big problem is that it’s like impossible to pronounce the names of any of the major sites there.

So Yasser and I were basically able to climb to about half way up this mountain, which was super cool. I really like the photo. The gentle slopping of the hill. Yasser walking in the middle of the frame.

Black sand beach. Why does it look like my mom and Yasser are posing for a Christian rock album? I guess, why would Indian people even be making a Christian rock album? Actually, I just looked it up, and apparently, there’s this band called Aradhna. The Wikipedia says that it’s a band from Cincinnati, Ohio that fuses traditional Indian devotional music with Christ-centered themes. Here are some lyrics from their song Bhajo Naam, which you can find on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juMVEJcwOC8

Yasser and I did a few hours of ice climbing a glacier! Ice climbing is actually a lot like regular outdoor sport climbing. The big difference is that you have these sick ice picks that you’re drilling into the wall. The interesting thing is that the ice picks are actually mostly there for balancing. The real way you attach yourself to the wall is by kicking your shoes in a 90 degree angle, as they

Yasser peeing in a river.

A rainbow! After a stressful day of driving we saw this rainbow, and it was just so beautiful. Also, doesn’t this photo look a lot like Mallrat’s EP – In The Sky?? https://www.discogs.com/release/19312369-Mallrat-In-The-Sky

Fin. Iceland was an amazing trip. My mom, brother and I basically road tripped the entire southern part of the country. Stayed at a different place every day. Super grateful that we had that time together. As we get older, these stretches of hanging out with them get even more rare, which makes them all the more special ❤
